Laravel route returns 404 even though the route exists

What happened?

I created a new route in Laravel, but opening the URL in the browser returned a 404 Not Found error.

The route looked correct, but Laravel was not loading it.

Environment

Laravel

Error Message

404 | NOT FOUND

What was actually wrong?

The route was added to web.php, but I was trying to access it using the wrong URL.

I had written:

Route::get('/profile', function () { return 'Profile'; });

But I was opening:

/profile.php

instead of:

/profile

The Fix

I removed .php from the URL and opened:

/profile

The page worked immediately.

What I Learned

Laravel routes don't work like traditional PHP files.

Always check the exact route path defined in web.php before debugging the application itself.
